My opinion of New Media is that there isn't a "one-size-fits-all" approach.
It must be designed and implemented contextually to effectively maximise its potential.
It does not, in current form, replace the need for a human interface that adds clarity and perspectives to the issues discussed.
Let's use the following analogy:
You are learning about the pros and cons of of a newly introduced vehicle. Before the proliferation of the Internet, one would have to physically experience the drive before forming any sort of driving impression but anyone could access the web to retrieve such pertinent information.
This undoubtedly increases research efficiency, but NOT effectiveness, as there isn't substitude for authentic experience for one to arrive his personal conclusion (refer to the following review).
A useful tool in New Media is "Web-blog". It allows instructors and lerners to interact and exchange ideas.
